During the visit, discussions with UK partners focused on diversifying the plant-based protein (PBP) market to reduce its heavy reliance on imported soybeans. Specifically, the delegation explored the untapped potential of upcycling rice proteins from Vietnam's abundant agricultural waste streams. Key dialogues centered on reinforcing UK-Vietnam research partnerships and leveraging institutions like the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) to develop climate-smart technologies for sustainable meat and dairy alternatives.

Moving forward, the 3PUKSEA network will host ongoing research seminars, business events, and community-industry workshops. These collaborative efforts aim to assess the socio-economic viability of the rice protein value chain, ultimately unlocking new upcycling opportunities and promoting an affordable, sustainable protein shift across South-East Asia.
